Walkers Limbering Up For Historic Stroll

Keen to walk off the excesses of Christmas turkey, hundreds of sponsored walkers will depart The Willows on Tuesday morning as the Reds officially take rugby league from the famous old stadium to the new venue three and a half miles away in Barton.

With the weather forecast to be unseasonably mild for the time of year, walkers, who have all been sponsored to the tune of at least £25 with he proceeds going to the Reds' Foundation charity, will all received goody bags, t-shirts and cakes to prove they have 'Walked the walk".

Upon arrival at the Salford City Stadium, they will be greeted by an invited crowd for the first event at the new home of the Reds, who will witness the historic first rugby league encounter on the brand new surface - an exhibition match between the Reds's stars of the future - the U18s and U20s Academy sides.
